Our Approach to Tutoring Children
At the Tutor Surgery, we always start with making children comfortable with their tutors. We have a Meet the Tutor scheme where our tutors first invite students and parents over to their home for an informal 10-15 minute appointment. This is done a few days before the first lesson to make the child familiar with their tutor and learning environment.
Our tutors then assess children’s skills in reading, spoken language, and writing with a special focus on spelling, grammar and punctuation. We enrich students’ vocabulary with quality age-appropriate literature and help them practice writing with exercises. Whatever they need to work on to prepare for year-end exams and the Key Stage 1 and 2 SATs, our tutors are equipped to help them.
