Pupils often come to us when they are struggling to keep up in class, or when they are getting lower than expected grades in mock exams and other practice papers. Here’s how we help in the core subjects of Maths, English and Science.
Most pupils struggle with new topics that are taught at school because there is an underlying weakness in their basic Maths skills. For example, solving equations can be tricky if the basic rules of algebra have not been properly understood. Our job as specialist Maths tutors is to identify a topic that your child is finding hard, and then dig deeper using our assessment experience to find the root cause of the issue.
Speling is dificoult. Spelling is chalanging. Spelling is hard! This doesn't have to be true for your child once they've been taught all the tips and tricks by one of our specialist English tutors. Punctuation, grammar and essay writing are also likely to cause your child frustration. One-to-one lessons with our experienced tutors will improve your child's English skills, not only alleviating their frustration, but also boosting their grades in the GCSE English exams.
A common issue that our Science pupils need help with is exam technique. They often lose marks in the exam for a question on a particular topic, even though they have a good understanding of the topic. Our expert Science tutors will ensure your child is taught proper exam technique, including writing the correct keywords in their sentences, and structuring their answers effectively.
Our primary goal for our piano students is to ensure they have lots of fun! Practice and progress are also very important, so we carefully monitor these aspects on a weekly basis. All ages and abilities are welcome, from beginners to advanced players, from the age of 6 to adults in their 70s and 80s! We teach on acoustic pianos, but it is perfectly fine for beginners to get started with just a simple electric keyboard at home. As their skills develop, we will recommend the ideal time for a student to upgrade their keyboard at home to a more suitable instrument.
